Depending on the Cerakote series, thickness will range from .61 to 3.0 Mils. A mil is 1/1000th of an inch. A good reference are credit cards, they measure 30 Mils thick.

Yes, we do sandblast prior to application. We use #100 Grit Aluminum Oxide in our blaster.
